Boyet Javelona Sison
Boyet passed away in April 2022 and we will keep his memory here to remind us not of the loss but of his legacy.
Jose Avon J. Sison. a.k.a. Boyet Sison
started his broadcasting career in radio as the main curator of the program “The KISS Dance Shootout” for KISS-FM Manila in 1986, then moved over to 99.5 DWRT in 1991 as guest host of Saturday Night Live.
From 2000 he was part of the radio/TV broadcast panel covering the games of the Philippine Basketball Association until 2012, as well as also serving as one of the leagues' coliseum announcers.
The 2005 Southeast Asian Games had him as part of the broadcast panel covering event such as dancesport, track & field & sepak takraw. He also was part of the broadcast panel in 2009, 2011, and 2013 editions of the games for ABS-CBN Sports.
He was also part of the broadcast panel as anchor for the 2005 Collegiate Champions League.
In 2006, he produced and hosted a daily sport-talk radio show on DWRT-AM called "Gametime".
His was the Master of Ceremonies for the opening ceremonies of Season 83 of the NCAA, and in 2008, he was given the opportunity to be part of the ABS-CBN Sports broadcast panel, serving as one of the Anchors covering the Men's Senior basketball in Seasons 84, 85, 86 of the NCAA.
Since 2006 until 2019, Boyet was a co-host of the sports talk show, HARDBALL on ANC, together with Bill Velasco, that was awarded 3 consecutive Gawad Tanglaw Awards from 2016 -2018. It was during this tenure with the ABS-CBN News Channel, that he also served as newscaster, and on occasion guest host for Mornings@ANC, ShopTalk, The Rundown, amongst other programs.
From 2012 till 2020, he hosted, in tandem with former Senator and basketball legend Freddie Webb, a radio sports talk show "FastBreak", on DZMM Teleradto, which won 2 KBP Golden Dove Awards for "Best Sports Show".
Boyet is also veteran club DJ who began spinning records in 1978 at the Where Else? discotheque of the Hotel Intercontinentaland moving on to other legendary clubs as Stargazer, Faces, Euphoria, Club Cocoon, to name a few and hastravelled to other parts of the world to showcase his talents as live emcee and mixmeister.
He has also acted as Master of Ceremonies for many events, like the Kobe Bryant "Walang Iwanan" Manila Tour in August of 2013, and in September for Derrick Rose's tour for Adidas.
Boyet also continues to host the "Golden Wheel Awards", considered the Oscar's of the motor sport industry since 2013.
He also has been hosting music festivals, notably the Philippine International Jazz Music Festival, and the Bacolod Jazzfest since 2017.
Boyet is currently one of the hosts of the sports program “Team Pilipinas”, that airs on PTV ch. 4 .
